Will need a script which should

[ ] record timestamp and received character. Could be as simple as per line just space separated. Then script could simply do .split(' ', 1) to separate timestamp from the "character"
[ ] script takes as argument the directory where to dump log files (can use click python library for easy setup of command line interfaces)
[ ] automagically write into a new file e.g. every hour:
- name file by the DATEHOUR like 20220720T15 for the one which starts for 3pm
- remove previous hour file if no responses were recorded (so it is of size 0)

We are proceeding on two fronts here

@TheChymera develops the https://github.com/con/CONveyor to capture events by independent micropython board
- pros: ... cons: would not be immediate time stamp from birch; has odd problems with false events
Make record of events directly on birch device (running on RPi, python). Needs development. Initiated issues with birch label: https://github.com/ReproNim/reprostim/issues?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Aissue+label%3Abirch

We have continuous records from approach 1. in the post above (CONveyor) on reproiner:/var/tmp/conveyor/data/*csv. You can see the records in per-day files here: https://gin.g-node.org/TheChymera/CONveyor/src/main/conveyor/analysis/figs

This is indeed true, but might not fully preclude usability of the data, they are rather rare, some days without any false positives at all
