In particular, please see the "Found the following math rendering
problems" NOTEs in the "HTML version of manual" check for the r-devel
debian checks results. 

With R 4.2.0 or later, the HTML help system now uses KaTeX (or Mathjax)
to render LaTeX-like mathematical equations in help pages, see
<https://blog.r-project.org/2022/04/08/enhancements-to-html-documentation/>
for more information.

The NOTEs indicate math equations for which rendering with KaTeX does
not work.  Often, this simply indicates markup problems that went
unnoticed thus far.  Sometimes, it indicates the use of LaTeX features
which are not supported by KaTeX: see

  <https://katex.org/docs/supported.html>     (by type)

for what is supported.

Not really "fixed" but AFAICS there is no way to typeset latex arrays without using ampersands.
