It breaks my desktop #70

Just not working! Installed on my Elementary OS, but when I try to launch it simply causes a DE crash, logging off my session. Then, when I try to login again, no DE is present, only wallpaper and cursor, but no functionality, neither through keyboard shortcuts. It is necessary a force reboot with power button to recover the desktop again.

this makes my desktop fail Epic-ly... good luck fixing it :)

RonnyDo commented 4 years ago

Thank you for reporting this issue. I've tried it in my VM installation and it worked fine. May someone of you could run the app from the commandline and post the output. Like: ~# com.github.ronnydo.colorpicker | tee colorpicker.log

SanZuev commented 4 years ago

i am sorry but how do i run it like this?

SanZuev commented 4 years ago

So i ran it via terminal, everything seemed to work fine but i got these errors: (com.github.ronnydo.colorpicker:22370): Gdk-CRITICAL **: 14:26:40.468: gdk_window_set_cursor: assertion 'GDK_IS_WINDOW (window)' failed Gtk-Message: 14:26:40.659: GtkDialog mapped without a transient parent. This is discouraged. Hope it helps somehow

Fails on me too. So, I'm subscribing. BTW, awesome app! Super-love it.

guilmour-asc commented 4 years ago

Ran the command given by @RonnyDo:

~# com.github.ronnydo.colorpicker | tee colorpicker.log

... but the built log is empty (seems like the crash cancelled the logging).

SanZuev commented 4 years ago

I think the conflict might be associated with flatpak support, as on clean installation color picker works fine, but after installing Retroarch, it started freezing the desktop upon launching.

elvisblanco1993 commented 4 years ago

In my case it happens as I use my nvidia graphics. With Intel graphics it works fine.

zhaydexxa commented 4 years ago

ran the command .. $ com.github.ronnydo.colorpicker | tee colorpicker.log .. no log either

It made my system unresponsive, probably only the window manager. Audio kept playing fine, system sounds as well. Had to hard-reset. I am on Ubuntu 20.04 with Gnome. Despite that, I know the app from Elementary and I like it :) :+1:

Crashes my deskop as well

sergius02 commented 4 years ago

Same here, the app crash all the session when i try to pick a color.

In my case it happens as I use my nvidia graphics. With Intel graphics it works fine.

That's my case too. In fresh install the app works fine, but after install nvidia drivers from AppCenter the crash appears. After that i unistalled the drivers and the app works fine again.

UPDATE: I checked journalctl after it crash and i get this messages at the moment of launch the app https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/wXhhwbsnNN/
