Talk about good timing, I was just about to sign in here when I got the notification.
Could you see if you have an ErrorReport directory in your main EO directory, and if so, could you paste the contents of the latest file here? The ErrorReport files tend to be more useful to me than one line out of the log, I should be able to track it down much easier then.
I wouldn't write out the subtitles as a cause right away, but the only issue I know for a fact they're causing is enemy sounds failing to play. If they're causing any more serious problems, I'd be faster to work on a solution.
By any chance do you have an inconsistent internet connection, or any other unusual environment (VPN, proxy, internet filtering, "data saver" tools)? Because as far as I can tell, the error is not caused in EO at all, but rather in the proxy EO uses to capture data.
Some technical information ahead: when the proxy is capturing data from the internet connection, it's getting less data than it expected, causing it to fail. This implies that the connection's getting interrupted part-way (causing less data to be retrieved, even though the KC servers said "you get this much"), or for some reason the data from the server isn't what the server said it's supposed to be (caused by a filter or a data saver rerouting the connection).
It doesn't appear to be EO related at all, at least not strictly. If there's nothing wrong or unusual with your connection, then it deserves a second look. I can do work on the proxy, though that's not my area of expertise.
Nothing of that sort, no. Unfiltered, unclocked VDSL 25 connection without any additional proxy or VPN.
Got the error since day 1 of the EO emergency update so nothing on my side changed besides the EO version. That's why my guess was the hacktastic module, since that's the only "new" feature you mentioned in the changelog
Well, there was one other major change, but one behind the scenes. Since Telerik is an oh-so-benevolent company, they won't let open source developers like Andante and myself to use their software without paying massive licensing fees, so we were forced to transition from the relatively feature-loaded and indestructible FiddlerCore to a new proxy system. Andante chose Nekoxy, a Japanese one, and I chose Titanium Web Proxy, one better suited to the translation's needs.
Unfortunately, this appears to be the source of your problems. Even more unfortunately, it's one I can't reproduce on my own, and I assume you're not a developer yourself. Preferably I'd do something like this step-by-step in the debugger and find something, but that's a bit difficult given the circumstances.
Tell you what, it's late here and I need to bed, but I'll see if I can't trace back where a likely issue may be tomorrow. Is it alright with you if I whip up a nasty debug build that'll spit a tone of info to your log? Short of snooping over your shoulder, it's my best chance to get useful info out of this and make a more tolerant version without errors. After all, any major breaking bug is worth fixing, even for only one user. Who knows if there's more with this issue that haven't reported it?
I'm fine with the debug build suggestion. And I'm actually a developer myself, partially at least. Earning my living as an Oracle DBA and APEX Developer to be precise. So I'm most comfortable with PL/SQL and the occasional C#/PHP/PowerShell/Bash. Currently getting into Python because I think it's pretty nifty.
And yea, there might as well be others with the problem. I mean I've tolerated it for over a month now before I reported it :)
Good night to you.
Just wanted to report that I get the same error(s) when I'm at work. So that's a totally different connection (actually a dedicated connection to the DE-CIX). Just to rule out my internet connection :)
Any news?
bump
Hope everything is ok on your end! Haven't seen you around for quite a while
Ah yes, very sorry for the extended silence! I've been really frigging busy recently, having gone to Canada two times in as many months for various things, and then having my SSD start bugging out. Because of that I needed to buy a new one, reinstall Windows, and we all know how that goes, so it's been a transitioning process getting back into the gear of things. Hopefully now that everything is calmed down a little, though, I should be able to finally put some time into this. First priority will be getting the app on a whole upgraded, but after that's done we can take a look into your problems if they continue.
I know the current version is just an emergency update due to the 4/1 update, but is there a way to disable the Hacktastic subtitles?
Since the update I'm getting the following error pretty often and I assume it has something to do with the Hacktastic subtitles. Since it's two lines, it resizes my KanColle window and since the error happens pretty frequently, it's pretty much always resizing
