msxusb next 0.3 don´t stop to select option #12

Closed pakoto closed 2 years ago

pakoto commented 2 years ago

Old version stop on boot, prompt to select "1 - 2" option. After flash 0.3 version, boot directly to alphabet dsk selection. Only if push 1 or 2 quickly during boot, can do it.

S0urceror commented 2 years ago

I am planning to incorporate a feature that boots the last selected DSK unless you press another key. Is that what you are looking for?

pakoto commented 2 years ago

Ah, ok. You intentionally look for a start without pauses. Old version stop until you select an option.

S0urceror commented 2 years ago

Hi Pakoto, please check the version I just uploaded here: https://github.com/S0urceror/MSX-USB/tree/master/drivers/MsxUsbNext.

pakoto commented 2 years ago

thanks! 1 - 2 menu returns... but if you push esc two or more times, skip it. Could you modify ESC key to "do nothing" into boot menu?

I think push ESC = push ´1´

S0urceror commented 2 years ago

Can you please tell me a bit more about your MSX? MSX 1, 2, 2+ or TurboR? What language/keyboard layout?

What the menu does is print: MSXUSB-NXT v0.3 (c)Sourceror

Select device: 1.FLOPPY 2.USBDRIVE

Or, select DSK image [/]: A.\80s B.AUTOEXEC.DSK C.\dsks D.\mm E.\msxusb F.\music G.\network H.\nextor I.\roms J.\saves K.\settings L.\sofarun M.\tmp N.\tools O.\unapi P.\vgmplay And then it waits for your keypress.

Press keys 1 or 2 to select the built-in floppy or the whole USB device as the drive (FAT12 and FAT16) only. Press keys A to Z to select a DSK image or a subfolder on the disk.

With an AUTOEXEC.DSK file in the root it will wait 3 seconds and countdown. If you press nothing it will load AUTOEXEC.DSK. If you press ESC it will show the menu above.

Please carefully explain to me what is not working as explained above and I’ll try to help/fix it.

Sorry didn’t notice you included a video. Thanks for this.

It is a FS4000 MSX1.

I see you have a AUTOEXEC.DSK on the drive and that you press ESC so that it does not boot automatically. I see that you try to boot the whole USB device ‘2’ and that works. Booting floppy ‘1’ results in a Memory Error because there is not built-in floppy in your MSX. Does selection ‘A’ to ‘Z’ do anything?

I’ll check in the openMSX emulator to see how it behaves.

Please check video. Don't worry about memory error. I test msx1 with and without ram mapper in this video

When you push "esc" key more that one time, boot with 1 option.

Ah yes, pushing any button other then 1, 2 or A to Z will automatically select floppy. I’ll update my next version so that pushing ESC more than 1 time will not do anything.

Thx.

Btw, great machine you have, built-in printer, word processor. We never had these here in Europe.

Fixed it in v0.4. It’s in my GitHub.
