npm install . pulls in too many dependencies #24

We should go through and make sure we need everything we are including. I have problems with NPM sometimes on the embedded platform, so it may be easier not to count on so many external things.

I sometimes get stalls. If we can, later, low priority, go back and remove dependencies we don't absolutely need.
