LSVE testing

As a member of the stream team, I want the player team to validate the new LSVE streams so that we can go live.

Hints from the stream team

With the new Streaming Cloud the LSVE editors can choose between 3 different resolutions:

• SD (540p25)
• HD (720p50)
• FullHD (1080p50)

During our internal tests with FullHD we sometimes saw the player changeing every few seconds to a different resolution. This might have been caused by the internal network limitations and proxy, as our tests from home worked pretty well. Nontheless we would be glad if you can do some test from your side too so that we are sure that the player is able to handle FullHD in a good way.

Acceptance criteria

• Streams are tested on the various platforms.
• Results are reported to the stream team on Confluence.

Early feedback with the streams we receive on Friday May 31. The problems observed with the LSVS streams (see #69) are exactly the same with the LSVE streams. During seeks with pending seek cancellation the player can easily fail to resume playback.

Media playlist size could also be optimized by removing superfluous EXT-X-PROGRAM-DATE-TIME.

The player struggles to switch to 1080p variants. We can seek back into the past and back to the live edge to help it, but otherwise the player stays stuck at low resolutions.
