Improve ionosphere gallery plot #187

The gallery plot has a problem between contours. http://scitools.org.uk/iris/docs/latest/examples/graphics/TEC.html#TEC

Also, I think the awkward workaround in the code is no longer necessary.

The gallery image still has gaps between the contours.

588 only resolved the secondary issue of removing the awkward workaround.

I'll re-open this because I believe Iris has code that should be filling in these gaps but it seems broken or unused for some reason here?

No I fixed this in #732 so it can stay closed.
