I use the app for expense tracking, which usually consists of many smallish expenses and only few (but larger) top-ups of the budget with an "income" entry.
For this usage pattern, it is inconvenient and annoying to have to switch each single new expense entry from the default transaction type "income" to "expense" .
I am aware that for other users or uses, "income" might be appropriate as default transaction type. Therefore I suggest to let users configure the default transaction type - either in general for the entire app, or separately for each account.
