"Random" custom alias bug #72

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 8 years ago

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. I did a fresh install and the custom alias worked fine but suddenly it
ceased to work 100% as it would register the alias to the database BUT it
failed to redirect the user to the proper page telling them how many characters
they've saved etc.
2. I've messed around with your demo and was able to replicate it but it was
after several continuous attempts so maybe that contributes to this occurring.
I originally thought it was something specific in the URL that caused this to
happen but suddenly the same URL that gave problems worked after a few other
attempts.
3. As I said before, it DOES register the custom alias and the entry itself to
the database but does not give the user confirmation, instead it tells the user
that "The custom alias you entered is already exists." when it in fact does not
yet although once that error appears it's basically a confirmation that the
entry has been made except it confuses the user as they aren't being told that
it was created and mistakenly will assume that the alias is used already and
will keep trying which will just create more unnecessary entries.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expected to see the typical output confirming my submission instead of a
misleading error message.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Phurl v2 Beta 3.3, Linux Hosting

Please provide any additional information below.
After the first time it occurred I cleared the DB after getting it to work
normally again and reinstated it which resulted in this same issue happening
again eventually.

Can you provide any more info on this, such as a url shortener where it doesn't
work, or a url which makes it stop working?

I tried shortening a url with a custom alias on the demo site, and it seems to
work fine.
