This seemed to help while I was fixing the software on Saturday, but due to my debugging experiments I'm not entirely sure if this was the correct fix. @RobSteele49, can you try using this branch to build on your Pi?

Build job completed successfully on @RobSteele49's Pi. Next step: ensuring that the service is actually useable 😄
