In Telegram-FOSS v9.6.5 (3356) arm64-v8a, enabling
Settings > Language > Show Translate Button
works as expected but
Settings > Language > Translate Entire Chats
does not; specifically, the expected translation bar or button never appears at the top of foreign language channels. This Premium feature ("Real-time Chat and Channel Translation") works for the same account when Telegram is accessed via web.telegram.org/a, so it appears to me to be specific to Telegram-FOSS. It is consistent and repeatable across multiple non-English channels and after clearing cache, stopping & restarting, rebooting the device, etc.
Is this a known issue? I have found no references under issues or in the usual non-github places (with one possible exception). I would be grateful to know if there is an easy way to (re-)enable whole-chat translation if I have done something unwittingly to render it inoperable. Thank you.
@rulnick Translation is using the Google service which has a limited nb. of characters. Not sure how this works in premium. I would vote for a customizable translation service (DeepL et al)
