Ally Units Need a Guard/Follow System. #4886

Currently any Ally NPC's will fallows the player by default (unless they have the zombie attack behavior), what I'm requesting, is a box that might say "follow the player" or something along those lines, so that Ally NPC's can stay in place, and act more as guards staying in place until they see an enemy at which point they will engage, or follow the player based off of whether or not the box is ticked.

An interesting idea, and I agree that would be good.

Glad you like it Dave.

There should also be support for setting up a zone to trigger this on/off. I notice in Halo CE, sometimes the player's allied marines will follow the player up to a point, where they will say something like "You go on ahead sir, we'll wait here for evac."

So it'd be nice to be able to have segments where the player's allies follow them up to a point of "no return", where they will no longer follow and instead guard that area. (Think a mission where the player is assaulting an enemy base with a bunch of allies, and once they take the base, the allies stay to defend the base, while the player has to move on to another area of the level alone.)

I like this addition to the idea.

A zone or switch behavior could easily trigger that (Follow/Stand Ground) mode if the original idea is put into the ally character so it has an inbuilt (Follow/Stand Ground) mode option and variable flag.
