Just leaving a comment thanks for the great idea like all things wished Id thought of it. I have created a PCB will a couple of extra hardware features located here https://oshwlab.com/jbquirk/8bit-bus-display#P1 It is currently pretty raw it's been awhile since I've designed a board if it come back and works I'll post and update happy to share the documentation and details with this project if want. The board is so large as I originally planed to use a DIP chip.
