Comments not displaying #17

Believe it or not this post actually has a comment attached to it.

If you use the comments widget on the homepage:

It will actually show it to you. It just doesn't show if you select the individual post.

I had to export my blog, clean up a table and then re-import it all except for the options table.

Everything was fine but no comments were showing.

So I went into the comments table and changed a few of the comments from comment_type "" to comment_type "Comment" and then most of them showed up again but this one does not. I then changed comment_type back to "" and most of them are still showing but this one still is not.

Any ideas?

I can post the table rows from the posts table and comments table if needed.

Hi Alan, exporting and importing commonly cause problems. The best way to avoid them, in my experience, is to export contents using "Tools -> Export" provided by WP itself and Import them into a WP fresh install (this mean new db, freshly installed plugins, etc). Make a manual import through sql has never worked for me...

Otherwise you can try disable each plugin, and set one of the default theme, clean the cache (if you have one), check if the comment is displayed. If yes, delete shiword and reinstall it, (*). Check if the comment is displayed with shiword fresh installation. If yes, start enabling plugins one by one and every time check the comment.

(*) if not, it's not a problem we can solve, and you should ask for support in WP.org forum.

I also posted this on WP.org and have had zero responses over there. I also contacted Livefyre since I'm using their commenting system. It's similar to Disqus. As far as I can tell it's only the one comment and since it's mine anyways I just deleted it and then posted the comment again. And it shows up this time.

The import from sql seems to be good as I have all of my posts and comments. I just needed to set "comment_type" to comment in the comment table to get them to show up again. Except for this one.

Weird and thanks for the thoughts.
