Purple lines instead of displaying #15

I follow the instructions to a 'T' on my raspberry pi 4b, and it displays a purple line that slowly crawls across the screen covering the logo. Running this on Octoprint, which runs on raspbian stretch. Here is an image of what is happening:

I was using the wrong display driver, oops!
