The spec currently refers specifically to TEI Lite, as a way of indicating that it's a simpler version of the TEI file.
We need to tread carefully here, I think, because things are imminently about to change with TEI Lite. Judging by discussions at recent technical council meetings there seems to be a move afoot to introduce a TEI Lite2 (sic), which may either supplant or sit alongside the original Lite:
So we'll need to make sure we're using the right thing for the right purpose. It may actually be that for our purposes we need something specific that's even narrower than either Lite or Lite2.
