Project Description

My Beacon Bot is UMass Boston's one-stop solution to helping students in getting integrated into the city of Boston by helping with their university schedules, campus events and external extracurricular activities.

Inspiration behind the Project

The university gives us the solutions to any problem that a student might face and even focuses on extracurricular activities internally and externally. There are multiple departments and multiple pages which we need to go through to get any information. This gave birth to My Beacon Bot where we want the student to have a seamless and quick experience to any queries that they have about themselves, university or city exploration. Using Natural Language processing the Bot understands the queries and will provide update and accurate information as it will be integrated to all UMass services. Having all the information in one place and the bot doing the scheduling, the student is able to save a lot of time, be aware about all the ongoing events, get to know new places to explore, have reminders about Attendance, Assignments, Classes or work.
