Desktop freezes when creating New Window, only if external HDMI monitor is connected #148

I don't understand the connection between these events, but here goes:

M1 Max 16" Macbook Pro, connected to external 4K monitor via HDMI. Laptop screen is main screen, external screen is secondary monitor.

  1. Open Firefox
  2. select Firefox icon with right click, select "New Window"
  3. Desktop will freeze completely and irrecoverably (as far as I can tell)
  4. Computer is not fully frozen - I had a google meeting running in the background, and could still hear it and speak normally although there was no updates to the display on screen.

This is repeatable at will, if there are specific tests that would help.
