[FEATURE REQUEST] Switch to systemd-timesyncd #51

Open korewaChino opened 1 month ago

korewaChino commented 1 month ago

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. By default, Fedora upstream uses chronyd as an NTP client. We should switch to systemd-timesyncd since it is already provided by systemd

Describe the solution you'd like Replace chronyd with systemd-timesyncd

Describe alternatives you've considered Keep using chronyd

Additional context This is a breaking change, may break desktops which have no timesyncd support (i.e KDE)

When I tried to turn on automatic time sync in systemsettings5, it turns off timesyncd and enables chrony

Update: Turns out Anaconda and nm-connection-editor depends on chrony

Okay, if chrony is not installed seems like KDE defaults to timesyncd, so this may work in 41.
