`Corrupted Data' when streaming MOV files #621

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Go to PS3 Media Server
2. Find thumbnail (for an MOV file)
3. Click on it

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

The movie clip should start. Instead, I get 'Corrupted Data'. I do see
the thumbnails though.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

1.10.5 on Windows Home Server (on HP MediaSmart) with v2.5 and
PowerPack3.

If you are transcoding a media file, which engine are you using (mencoder,
avisynth/mencoder, tsmuxer?)

  The default: mencoder

If the media file is in error (or does not play flawlessly), what are
the ) ?

Please provide any additional information below and PLEASE JOIN debug.log
file !!

codec informations of this file (you can use following program:
mediainfo.sourceforge.net

I have also seen this issue for a 1080p H.264 mp4 and mov type files.
When attempting to transcode the file, it states that the file type is not
supported (as opposed to failing with a corrupted data statement).
The trace output when it attempts to transcode the file is:
[New I/O server worker #1-2] INFO 20:41:20.590 Starting transcode/remux of
DVCIxxx.MP4

No other information or error is output.

A debug log from 1.50.0 Beta 2 or newer will help us fix this problem

I was having this problem using the PS3 to play any MP4 files from my server
running on Ubuntu 11.10 x64. Installing libmediainfo0 from the getdeb.net repo
(already had that setup) fixed it in my case. There's also the official PPA
for a fresher version ( https://launchpad.net/~shiki/+archive/mediainfo ) or
the project's website for other distros.

Never had a problem playing MOV through MEncoder so this is probably not
related to the original issue but I found this by looking for my problem in
Google (probably because of comment 4) and figured that leaving my solution
could help future visitors with the same problem as I had.

Same issue with visible thumbnails but "corrupted data" for MOV and MKV files,
on my PS3. Everything worked fine for a few weeks after updating to 1.50 but
then suddenly stopped without any changes on my part. File that would play
without issue suddenly would not. However the Media server sometimes shows and
works on Xbox360 and the same files play fine on a Sony Bluray... very
confusing.
