Normally The game allows me to use headphones, Today I turned on my pc and tried to boot up the game and I was faced with this asdasdasdasdasdasd When I use my Bluetooth speaker the game boots up no problem oof I honestly have no idea what is causing the problem I have updated sound drivers and downgraded them to see if it would work but still nothing usually I would not mind using my speakers to play but I stream speedruns and I need the audio to go through my headphones

Seems to be working, thanks! Though it doesn't seem to have to be 24 bit, I chose the 16 bit, 44100 Hz option and it works.

FANTASTIC! 😄

I will update the Wiki as soon as I can.

When I've done it, I will close this Issue.

Thanks again :)

Just want to add that I had this issue for a different reason. When I plug my PS4 controller in via USB my laptop automatically switches audio output to the controller (for some dumb reason). When I remembered to switch the audio back to the speakers the game worked fine, but occasionally I forgot to switch and got this same error message. As long as I switch it back (which I have to do anyway to be able to hear anything), the problem disappears. But what a pain I had trying to figure out why it happened sometimes and not other times! It's all good now though thanks to this thread and thanks to V for this awesome patch.

little late for the party but I did some experimenting and that's exactly the problem, there are audio devices that the game doesn't recognize and when it doesn't, it just crashes.

Every way that you can get audio out of HDMI (audio splitters, built-in monitor jack or an audio interface that accepts HDMI) willl work. The game also recognises the built-in audio chipset, so plugging your headphones through any of the 3,5mm audio jacks will also work. The XBOX one controller jack works too.

What didn't work for me were USB audio interfaces and USB headphones.
