Hello,
first i have to say i love this game from the bottom of my heart. I really like the idea to put lore on the waiting screen during qualifier streams - that's where i had an awesome idea:
Why not change Captains Mode so after your first pick you can only pick heros, that like or at least don't hate each other. For example everybody knows kunkka and tide hate each other, so you can't have both in one team!
It would drastically change the way you have to think about your picks and would bring the lore more in the forefront and therefore boost the immersiveness of the Dota universe. It would also bring a completely new factor to consider and make the picking phase more interesting and complex - which is what we nerds love.
I hope you like the idea and really consider it.
