Any update on getting this working?
also curious about an update
I know that the game will use the new UI as default, and stop using the browser to star races. This can be useful to execute the launcher without problems, but the main problem is that this game uses EAC.... You can ride on pratice, but you can't on multi.
Honestly, a game as expensive as iRacing with such a problematic performance on Linux doesn't seem feasible to me. I don't plan to pay more 3 months subscriptions to simply make tests with proton.
I think it's much better that we try to make RaceRoom work, than if it allows to play without paying while we test it, and if at some point it is achieved, to be able to buy circuits and cars.
update:
Doesnt boot with the edited .bat file either. Yaaay.
I dont even care about EAC, i just want to play offline, but Steam wont refund my purchase because I couldnt get iracing to boot.
Edit: I talked to Glorious Eggroll about iRacing, and he says that its EAC that fails to start correctly, thus breaking the games launch, making it unbootable. Good fun.
As it's on sale for £3 right now, I'm giving it a go to see if we've got any further since the last comments here.
No luck so far
Don't start, or don't work on multiplayer?. The game uses EAC. You could try to run the game directly on the executable
Found a way to make it run
Download the game on Steam, use Proton Experimental (or something recent), start it once, login. You will get an error "local service not found", close the game.
Edit [steamapps]/common/iRacing/StartServiceAndPlayNow.bat
Replace if %ERRORLEVEL% EQU 1060 (
with if %ERRORLEVEL% GEQ 1 (
Start the game again, the launcher should login and work correctly. I'm able to connect to online servers but I get a message saying that the anticheat isn't loaded ("EOS_ACCCAR_NullClient"). I didn't play enough to see if I get kicked or not
Can you elaborate on what does/doesn’t work before I subscribe to it again?
Cheers, David JM Emmett

In game:
Reflex+Boost (going to test LatencyFleX soon) SMP/MVP for triples
Out of game:
Overlays, seriously, can't find any that work!
What does work:
Logitech Wheels - new-lg4ff-dkms-git Fanatec Pedals (and assuming wheels) - hid-fanatecff-dkms Other hardware does have drivers but I know nobody with these and able to test Trading Paints, Garage61, irFFB, CrewChiefV4 - all done via protontricks-launch after opening iRacing
Could you play the game on multiplayer? Some years ago I tried it and anticheat kicked me out of the game

I not only raced online, I streamed it too https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2136092978
Compatibility Report
System Information
I confirm:
steam-266410.log
Symptoms
For the game to start, the StartPlayingNow.bat file has to be edited to have this content: @ECHO OFF ECHO. ECHO [Starting the iRacing Service in the background] ECHO. ECHO Please sign in to the iRacing service in the browser opening now @if exist _use64bit.txt del _use64bit.txt > NUL @CALL Start_iRacingService.bat REM @START "iRacing web site" %1 iRacingSim64DX11.exe @SLEEP 5
The game starts but does not detect or see movement or button presses for my Guillemot Force Feedback wheel or Digital Joysyick. Both work in jstest and fftest (for the wheel).
Reproduction
Do the edit described above and start the game and then try to define the controls using a wheel or joystick.
