Settings Menus - Multiple settings menus exist leading to potential user confusion. #39

SteamVR Settings: there are currently four different settings menus leading to potential user confusion when locating options.

The following are the different "settings" menus available to the user:

  1. Desktop Steam Client settings
  2. Desktop SteamVR Client settings
  3. VR Overlay "Steam" tab gear menu
  4. VR Overlay "Settings"

Example Scenario - User wishes to change VR controller bindings: Repro Steps:

  1. Open the desktop client settings menu. Observe there is no VR option under the "controller" tab.
  2. SteamVR client settings menu, Observe are no controller options present.
  3. Open Dashboard, click gear icon, select "VR Settings" then select "Controller Bindings". Observe it took 4 actions to get to this menu.
  4. Open Dashboard, Click on the "Settings" tab and select "Controller Bindings". Observe it took 3 actions to get to this menu.

Expected Results: The user is able to locate relevant settings within a reasonable amount of steps in a centralized menu. Actual Result: The user must check multiple settings menus to find all relevant settings.

Note: these Bindings ARE able to be changed on desktop by navigating to http://127.0.0.1:8998/dashboard/controllerbinding.html in a browser however SteamVR does not provide this option to the user.

This issue occurs on all devices.
