[Feature Request] CS 1.6 HUD scale, including scope. #381

Hello, everyone ! First off, I wanted to thank Alfred and whole Valve team, for the current progress they made, change's are really great ! Keep up the good work !

About the topic, I wanted to request an option for player to allow them to scale down HUD for lower resolutions, including all the weapons that have zoom. For an example, here is a HUD, with zoomed weapon at a resolution of 1280x1024. http://imgur.com/Vrsk2R4,m9oAjqV#0 As you can see, the HUD and scope fits the resolution really well, and is enjoyable for eye.

For the second example here is the HUD and scope at 640x480 resolution. http://imgur.com/Vrsk2R4,m9oAjqV#1 As you can see, the HUD including scope hasn't changed it's size , and it's still at the size of 1280x1024 resolution, the only thing that has changed is spaces between HUD item's so it could fit he 640x480 resolution.

Main thing that i wanted to request is a possibility for a player to be able to size/scale down HUD, so it could be much more enjoyable at lower resolutions as it is on higher one's. There are many other player's like me that play's on lower resolutions, and they would certainly find this more enjoyable, than current scaling, especially for scope zoom, because often when a player zooms at a long distances, scope's center "red" point covers whole enemy players head, and even more, so it isn't quite easy to find the appropriate aim on it.

I don't get it why people still playing with a resolution of 640x480 meanwhile FullHD is very common and the actual standard. Disregard of the new 4k or 'QuadHD' resolution which is coming more and more.

Well, there are people who don't have 4k and yeah there are probably also people who don't have FullHD yet, but 640x480? On which platform are you playing on? [sarcasm] IPhone 1? [/sarcasm]

I know, that 'pro gamers' playing on such a resolution because the hitboxes are 'bigger'. A real 'pro gamer' kills you also in higher resolutions ^^

@leon291 its becouse they ... and thinking on lower resolutions they can play better its obvious public myth, the native resolution is best..

Rezzered commented 11 years ago

At lower resolutions hit boxes are more accurate. You can test it easily by deagle, how much head-shot's you will make at low resolutions and how much at native. :)

It's not a myth. I actually just tried to play on my native resolution after these updates so I could play without -nofbo, and on 1680x1050 the game seems to be significantly more laggy vs 800x600. I was actually contemplating reporting this as a bug because I'd like to use native resolution as I do in every other game.

Regarding hud scaling, I agree but for the opposite reason as OP. I'd like the hud(radar, etc.) to be larger on high resolutions.

Spray pattern is smaller and easier to control at 640x480. Hitbox changes aren't a myth either.
