Feature: Request G13 postponement #126

Closed hasteur closed 11 years ago

hasteur commented 11 years ago

If the page is eligible for the G13 nomination, provide a button that postpones the eligibility of G13 by adding a transparent template http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk%3AArticles_for_creation%2FA_Theory_of_Justice%3A_The_Musical%21&diff=569808206&oldid=539218604.

If the template is nor present on the page add the wikitext described in that diff to the bottom of the page. If the template already exists on the page read the number from the first parm and increment by 1.

The purpose is to allow those editors who are working the top of the "G13 eligible AfC submissions" backlog to request postponement by changing the page, but also track how many times a submission has been given this rare opportunity.

working on this now

theopolisme commented 11 years ago

@hasteur, this has been implemented.

Here's an example of postponing an article for the first time: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/United_States’_Environmental_Policy_during_Foreign_Military_Actions&diff=prev&oldid=569915714

...and here's an example of postponing an article that had already been postponed before: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia_talk:Articles_for_creation/A_Theory_of_Justice:_The_Musical!&diff=prev&oldid=569915892

This will be available in the Theo's Little Bot mirror in the next fifteen minutes for you to test to your heart's content; once you're satisfied that it works as intended, please close this issue. Thanks, and let me know if there are any improvements/corrections to be made,

I've been working on getting our system for bugs in better order. Please only close bugs that are tagged with Milestone "Resolved as INVALID/WONTFIX" or "Pushed to Stable / Live version". Thank you.

theopolisme commented 11 years ago

@Technical-13 ....and why is that? Seems confusing. And considering how right now it takes forever to get fixes into the live version, won't that just result in the pile up of a ton of fixed bugs in the issue tracker?

Code isn't "selectively" pushed to the live version...it goes in waves...in order...unless it's a hotfix. So I don't see what the point is of leaving a bug open that has been "fixed" in the source code and just is waiting to be tested and pushed to the live version.

Was this discussed anywhere?

Technical-13 commented 11 years ago

No, it will let us know when they start pilling up as "Pushed to Beta" that maybe it is time to release the beta. I was thinking that when Beta hits a threshold of say 10-15 issues pushed to it waiting to go live, then it should be pushed barring any major bugs. Not yet, but it should probably be discussed further on IRC or our Helper Script talk page on wiki (that I personally almost forgot about and would probably be better suited for many of the discussions that have tickets opened for non-issue discussions)...

hasteur commented 11 years ago

Working as expected. Please push to Beta/Live At your earliest convienence.

Technical-13 commented 11 years ago

Re-opening all tickets that do not have milestones of "Closed as INVALID request or WONTFIX" or "Pushed to Stable / Live version". This will reduce redundancy of bug reports by making it easier to find what isn't in live yet, which is what most people are using.

theopolisme commented 11 years ago

@Technical-13 what the heck...why did you repoen this and countless other issues? I CLOSED IT 21 HOURS AGO LIKE YOU TOLD ME TO.... please explain. You and @APerson241 are driving me insane at this point.
