Request on folding, styling & highlights

I don't have needed knowledge of source code (and used language, probably) to make a patch myself, so I hope that this issue gets some attention. Can you please:

• change/add an option for folding to show both starting & ending lines (or merge folded into 1 line like Firefox's Scratchpad does);
• move folding markers to margin on which line numbers are (and maybe add styling for them);
• add styling for multiple highlights (background color at least);
• add counter for total highlights to status bar;
• add shortcut for enabling/disabling highlights;
• add separate options for highlights on regular selection & search/replace (for example, to highlight only search matches but not selection and to preserve search highlight on manual selection).

Can't stress this enough. It is so confusing because when file has nothing to fold, it looks like the first row is all white-space.
