Importing opml from 221 to beta results (tumblr) (confirm cookie) #9

Hello, Thanks firstly for taking up the mantle for this great tool.

I wanted to let you know that when I export from 221 the opml file, and import it into the beta, about 1/2 of the feeds fail to initialize.

They are mostly tumblr's. And as this happened, I dropped the beta and went back to 221.

Did I do something wrong? Could the opml file be corrupt? Thanks!

i tested it and i had no problems. i used this feed http://deutscheblogs.tumblr.com/rss

you could check the error messages of a feed by right clicking one of the borken feeds then properties, status tab, status line. what does it say?

It appears that most of the feeds are failing because FeedValidator.org throws this error:

It looks like this is a web page, not a feed. I looked for a feed associated with this page, but couldn't find one. Please enter the address of your feed to validate.

However, if I remove and then readd the feed, no worries. So there is a workaround. Though others with more than a dozen busted feeds may not be happy about having to readd that many. It looks like this may need to go on the to do list. Not at the highest level. Unless others see this too. I blame myself, having to use Windows primarily vs Linux :)

if you wait and let the feeds update after a while do they work then?

try to copy what the wrong rss page from tumblr contains.

I have tried for several days. I believe that the issue is the Feedvalidator.org fails to see the URLs I have listed imported fails to see that url as a legitimate feed.

And deleting and readding using the same url fails as well.

Thoughts?

whats the exact text on the status line? when everything is ok it saies: "Status: The last attempt to load this feed was successful." can you give me the opml file?

Hi since I had the same problem I thought I might chime in with some details.

The trouble lies in tumblr's solution to GDPR. They redirect all traffic (including RSS) from most European IP-addresses without an i-accept-your-terms cookie to https://www.tumblr.com/privacy/consent?redirect=originalurl Many other programs using RSS feeds have similar problems and have been forced to make special hacks to fix it.

tumblr has given no official response that I can find beyond generic "we are looking into it"-emails.
