If you save something to your inventory, all required assets for it will count towards your storage limit as well, regardless of if they were originally saved by someone else, afaik.

No I believe the Resonite essentials folder is handled differently for example the cloud home that you get does not go towards your storage presuming this would also go for materials
Wait, I believe I did see the CC0 materials somewhere in the Resonite Essentials > Assets
There is only a small amount in there nowhere near the original materials folder

The cc0 folder can be added to resionite materials just creating the folders with each material name again is a lot of work yes it's understandable but its necessary just hire me for a day on resonite team and I will add those myself to the resonite folder
We are evaluating potential sources, and processes by which we can expand the number of assets available for use in on-platform building. E.g. https://ambientcg.com/
No guarantee at this time when this will be prioritized, but thank you for your patience in the interim, @alexderpyfox.
I would like to add that I have been putting the task of adding the cc0 textures from https://ambientcg.com/ myself for a couple of days now. If there is any official way to communicate what I am doing or how I could possibly get the materials that I am importing added back too the Essentials Folder, then please let me know!
Seeking feedback from either @ProbablePrime or @Frooxius - curious if there are ways of automatically populating/mass-uploading this content.
Otherwise- additionally assigning @AegisTheWolf and @RyuviTheViali as it's still possible to do this process manually in the interim- but would require a time investment to do so.
We can write a script to do it, but it takes time.
I'd only want to commit time to it on the code side once we have a proper Workshop implemented, rather than writing a script for the inventory system.
We can have the team do it manually too, but it's a lot of time and I'm not sure if it's the best way to spend the content team's time to do all the materials - it's a lot of them.
Marking this as blocked for now, then.

Sorry for reviving this one more time, but I have commissioned a mod dev to create a material orb importer that is compatible with the open source MaterialX that AmbientCG has within its library downloads. Possibly later on the implementation of the importing of MaterialX could become native?
Additional feature requests should be their own separate issue, @realdoomsboygaming.

Sorry, it was not my intention to leech off this issue. I was simply stating a possible implementation of that could speed up the process of importation of the Material Library.
Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
these are needed for ccreation and since importing all of these by each user takes up a lot of storage for each person it would be nice rto have the materials folder back for usage in creations that are made ingame
Describe the solution you'd like
that the cc0 materials folder will be added back so people can get materials easier for creations and doesnt add towards their storage
Describe alternatives you've considered
there isnt
