In micro-zoom mode, it can be difficult to place objects accurately if there are no good satellite images, for example:
I can see a bench near the entrance to a long building, but OSM-carto doesn't know how to measure 2 meters
try placing benches and trash cans next to them (or manholes)
surveillance cameras on the edges of buildings
...
Showing the scale bar on the screen after clicking on the + would most likely help a bit
perhaps the problem should be solved in some other way: for example, show the distance to the nearest node, or create a tool for mass adding objects along the line
