I'm unsure about this for a couple reasons. One is that I wonder how necessary it is for most users. Another is that I'm concerned that it might create a false sense of security about how much control the utility can wield over the OS and hardware. Even if the the settings were locked, for example, if Disk Arbitrator crashes or a user quits or kills the process, all protection it offers is gone.
I don't think this feature is necessary.
Password protect Disk Arbitrator so that any status changes are subject to authentication first.
