Where is the HTTPS Everywhere repo?
Someone basically claims the second item in the list of the requirements is impossible: "There's no such API." (https://stackoverflow.com/q/62569564/856090)
The omnibox API can be used for the list to appear when the user types a "keyword" (like onion
). Is it OK? Should I implement it with omnibox API and onion
keyword?

Nope sorry. That was part of a seasonal event. Cheers!
Hello,
we recently implemented onion support for HTTPS-Everywhere (https://gitlab.torproject.org/legacy/trac/-/issues/28005). While currently its use is only restricted to securedrop instances, we are planning to expand it on the future to more people.
There are a bunch of UX improvements that we need on the short-term to make this feature more welcoming:
1) A panel that allows users to view all the currently enabled onion rules and update channels. This would allow them to see all included securedrop rules right now, and in the future any other rule or update channel we decide to add.
2) An auto-complete feature where if the user starts typing a short-hand onion name, Tor Browser can suggest auto-completes for the various short-hand names that fit that.
We hope that by implementing these two features the discoverability of short-hand onions will improve significantly.
