error message in mplayer on displaying pps movie: could not read from resource #1

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. always while playing movie, randomly while playing tv serie, from
ppstream in mplayer
2. same issue, randomly, when moving forward or backward in a tv serie episode
3. second issue: in firefox, cannot see movies on www.pps.tv , the webpage
says that ppstream plugin haven't installed

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
in mplayer, movie is frozen (happens around 30s after the beginning of the
movie) then error message is displayed after a timeout

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
ubuntu 9.10

Please provide any additional information below.
I added the plugins through the repositories "ppa.launchpad.net"
Mplayer is working fine and no problem to browse the ppstream channels in it

The mplayer isn't provides by this project. To play pps:// streams in firefox
please
install gst-plugins-pps, totem plugins for firefox.

can
browse all of the ppstream channels and even get the thumbnails but when it
comes to
play anything, the fucking error message is back : could not read from resource
!!!
does anyone else face the same issue ??? no more heroes, supernatural and so

Well, based on the comments in issue #6 (http://code.google.com/p/totem-
pps/issues/detail?id=6), it seems that PPS has blocked access from 3rd party
applications since about the 18th Dec so we're all stuck.

As of today(4/5/2010), it seems that either PPS blocked access from 3rd party
application again. I am getting the "could not read from resource" in movie
player. It
was working fine before the weekend.

OS: Ubuntu 9.10
Movie Player: Totem 2.28.2
totem-pps : 0.0.19.5-0

I don't get the [ppsvod]User not allowed(0x80000006) error message within the
terminal however the gui suggests i may not have appropriate permissions.

Hi, I am a user of ppstream on windows, I try to read the pps stream directly
with a player like vlc or media player classic, they can read rmvb stream.

But it does not work, do you know if I need to install a codec, plugin or
something?
