"Could be a resizable box, visually drawn with one solid face and the rest wireframe. This would be useful for removing junk behind windows, under boardwalks, reflections under beaches, etc. If you can get the auto-sizing correct, user probably wouldn't need to resize it in many cases."
"Thinking about this more, most of the time you need this, a (world) axis-aligned box/plane is what you really want, so you can skip worrying about rotation etc. Just need to set locked dimension. I want an axis-aligned box cursor that once I start holding down the trigger it only moves in 2D. E.g. I put it under a barge at what I think is the water line, hold the trigger, and then I can drag it around in lat/lon dimensions, but its height stays the same, never going above where I set it. Locking the Z-height to a horizontal 2D layer like that is easy, not sure how to choose a vertical plane alignment though, in the case where want to delete points behind windows/building facade."
Alternative editing mode to spherical cursor. Initial trigger pull sets and locks first corner of AABB (indicated by jack glyph similar to scaling pivot point glyph) and continued trigger pull allows interactive positioning of second corner. Release of trigger sets and locks second corner. Points in AABB highlighted for visual feedback.
