Pretty sure going to use Postgresql as it's one of the few open source databases that has been utilized for large scale data. Also, newer versions support JSON documents directly and can be intermixed with SQL.

production server will be hosted at TACC, however they don't want to set it up until we've finalized our data model/database structure, what DB modules/capabilities we want installed, how much space we need, etc.

staging server will be hosted at UTSW. We are purchasing a machine for the database. We will need to work with UTSW IR to make a staging website publicly available.

We received the hardware for the staging server. Need to configure and perform initial installation of software. Figure out how to get it colocated at UTSW data center.

The ak-tools repository will provide the development environment for data integration and new knowledge algorithms.

Moving the remaining implementation tasks to #48 for the staging server. The production server at TACC will be considered around PY3.
