LaTeX Editing: Wrong Output under Ubuntu 12.10, for example: \ = ß, [] = 89

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

expected output (for LaTeX): \cite[S.\,]{} 

I see instead: ßcite8S.ß,970

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Lubuntu and Ubuntu 12.10 I tried autokey-qt and autokey-gtk

In Lubuntu 12.04 (perhaps with an older autokey) everything worked fine, I used 
Autokey for LaTeX-Editing in General, this does not work anymore...
