Burn a patched game but does not work

Hi, I tried to patch the game Parasite Eve 2 Pal Fr (CD1), I followed your instructions, but the game doesn't start at all. I tried to start it with PS Pal, with action replay, and also with importplayer, nothing work, What I did wrong ?

1)Does an unpatched copy boot? 2) What CD-R and burner? It sounds like bad burn/cd-r media since the protection doesn't trigger till mid-game IIRC.

1) No, unpatched copy does not boot too. 2) I'm using Verbatim CD-R (https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0009PGVL8/?coliid=I2J8M6UICOJ9S6&colid=2UWREROGYQFHB&psc=1&ref_=list_c_wl_lv_ov_lig_dp_it_im), and imgBurn, in x2 speed.

The patch seems to work, I tested on emulator (both unpatched and patched), at a certain point the game does load (right when Dryfield start) with unpatched, but works well with patched.

Actualy, the thing I tried to determine is if the game can be forced to NTSC 60hz with ImportPlayer, I have to know before buying the game, maybe you know this ?

Sadly you bought one of the worst CD-Rs. That is what is preventing it from booting, the PSX can not read the data from poor quality CD-Rs. The protection nor the patcher are not at fault for this for sure.

I read your guide, nice works !!!. So, I'm looking for better CD-R quality, here are some of what I found :

10 CD-R Taiyo Yuden JVC CMC PRO 52x 80 min

Verbatim 10 Slim 48x CD-R DataLifePlus 80 min

4 X TDK CD-RXG 74 AUDIO Digital 74 min

VERBATIM DATALIFE PACK 20 x CD-R - 650MB/74 min

9 CD-R Verbatim DataLifePlus 650MB/74 min

Can you help me to choose what is the best choice please ?

I think the CMC Pro is best. The DataLifePlus 74min/650mb is 2nd. Either is perfectly ok for the PSX. Both have pros and cons going for them, but they are much more compatible with the PSX in comparison to what you've been using.

There's no way to know with a laptop burner. It is extremly more likely to work with those CD-Rs but most laptop burners are not up to the task.

If you can find non-JVC CMC Pro I'd go with those.
