for calculating DoA, external algorithms and their URIs should be supported

This is of course possible with a little caveat... at the stage when you need to apply the external DoA algorithm you need to create a dataset (that is, create its features and upload the dataset). The dataset that you POST to the external DoA algorithm is assumed to be available online you need to have its URI. I mean that you no more can work with internally stored data.
