Remove dead code #70

I was looking at the code and trying to understand the overall flow, and I noticed some pretty large bits of dead code, so I thought you might be interested in removing that.

I talked with Ravi about this, and he's got an internal version of SNAP that uses a lot of what is dead in the public version, so we're going to leave it around. It may (probably will) never see the light of day, but he still finds it useful. So, I'm not going to pick this up. Thanks for looking at it, though.
