Accented lemmas

[anacastrosalgado]

Some lemmas have an accent (see CORUCHE’O [pinnacle]). Thinking about the future search of these lexical units, we have created a normalised version of the lemmas (without the accents) and placed them in the @norm attribute.

In that case, should not this be done for all lemmas in the reference edition of the dictionary, in order to have a unique place of search?

Just few points from the digital processing/postprocessing/publication point of view

• the normalized version of the lemma can be easily generated throughout the dictionary by computer (using the XSLT transformation);
• for a publishing platform (e.g. TEI Publisher), the normalized version can also be generated during the indexing process (for full-text search), so that the lemma can be searchable by the original or normalized version, even if the normalized version is not part of the input XML data the disadvantage of this approach is that the normalized lemma is not part of the XML and may not be available when migrating to another platform

@daliboris You're right. It all depends whether you want to secure this at an early stage so that further user can reliably have this information at hand.
