When attaching rope to fence, clicking Shorten while at minimal length crashes the game

How to reproduce

Grab 3 pieces of rope, attach to fence, press F, select Shorten.

Happens when trying to login and someone else is on the server. We play on the same server. Both of us crash. But only if both logged in. Not exclusive to only us.
