Movist crashes iMac #210

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Set preferences to start from last known play position
2. Open an .avi file recorded by Camtasia using TechSmith codec
3. Playing movie gives Mac gray screen of death, so opening Movist
   does also crashes Mac

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

Movie format is reported as unsupported.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Movist 0.6.8 + Snow Leopard 10.6.4 with all latest patches.

Please provide any additional information below.

Only way to resolve this is to remove Movist completely and never use again. 
Very bad.
