Hi Simon! It's not a move we anticipate making in the short term (there are so many things we would like to do but lack the time). But I think there is indeed a lot of potential behind these tools, especially regarding the scalability dimension (hpc clusters --> everyone computers). It would surely increase the democratisation of tools like NSDM and the dissemination of the best practices that we have tried to include in it to more people.
This is more of a question than an issue but in bioinformatics there's growing momentum behind the use of workflow managers to run pipelines like you're got here. Here are some examples:
Wondered if you had considered using any of these tools to aid reproducible deployment of the N-SDM workflow? I'd be interesting to hear your thoughts on whether you think it would be worth it.
Here's an example of an SDM on the Galaxy workflow platform https://training.galaxyproject.org/training-material/topics/ecology/tutorials/species-distribution-modeling/tutorial.html but I think Galaxy is a bit more GUI-orientated than snakemake/nextflow
