16- upload/add custom thumbnail option would be nice to have option to submit a
thumbnail for media types I upload that can't be displayed in browser... (EPS
or PSD
files for example), also nice to choose my own video thumbnail if that's
possible

The choice of formats is very confusing - really the whole system for uploading
media
seems out of whack - is 'Create Channel Item' where that is done? If so, for
someone
pretty well versed in Drupal, this is very strange. I think utilizing this
module
if/when it's ready for Drupal 6 will help - http://drupal.org/project/emfield

I started a wiki to compile the various Drupal based and third party solutions
for
media upload and distribution. Ideally we'll be able to bring in some of the
leaders
in this space to advise/collaborate on both a short term and long term solution
for
our needs. Feel free to post comments and specific requirements to the doc -

Aaron Winborn, the module developer for embedded media field
(http://drupal.org/project/emfield), informed me that the module should be
considered
production ready for Video and image support; audio support is forthcoming. This
YouTube clone (http://youdrup.com/) Aaron put together as a demo is running
emfield
on D6. Based on this, I recommend we use this if it seems feasible.

RE: Media upload and distribution, I'm evaluating some of the solutions and
talking
w/ some of the developers referenced here - http://groups.drupal.org/node/16846
