CSV Import and Export of FOLDERS and VIEWS #1048

Hello I would like to be able to export and import FOLDERS and VIEWS. We are already using the exports/imports facility to manage data on elements and relationship. We would like to do the same with Folders and Views. We do not want to update the "standard" top folders such as Strategy, Business, Application, Technology & Physical, Motivation, Implementation & Migration, Others, Views. We would like to manage the folders and views we have created below the "Views" top folder. The model is quite large (more than 15000 objects) and XL is easier to make updates.

Thank you Christine

JArchi should be your friend for this.

I agree with you.... But, we already have more or less 20 JArch scripts to keep the model tidy. Scripting is only allowed to IT people. We also have around 30 people from the business areas that have started to do the modeling : they are product managers in a business domain (not an IT organisation). And they have to do the modeling and to keep their model clean. So it would be great to get this possibility in the Archi menu. I thank you for that. I can understand this is not a priority and that you have many many things to develop. So, please, keep it in your mind. Many thanks. Christine

Hi Christine,

CSV import/export of views is not really feasible. A view contains so much graphical information and links to other objects that it would be very difficult to import/export that information in CSV format, and also to manage updates when importing as it would mean re-creating the whole process of creating a model in the same way that is done when opening an "*.archimate" file.

Regards, Phil
