Hi, arkypita, I just watched the video on laser engraving portraits. 1.Can you please tell me what laser was used and approx. cost of it ?

  1. Can you recommend an inexpensive laser TO DO PORTRAITS. DO YOU SELL THEM AT GITHUB? I
  2. If not I have a 3018 cnc router. Can I purchase a laser and controller and what else I may need. Also what. Would you recommend for my purpose?
  3. What material was used in the video and can it do aluminum or other metal or ceramic or granite?
  4. Is Corel draw a good program to edit photos to engrave. There is a version (do you know which?)that can convert to Gcode. I could then just run code in lasergrbl 6.Can I import a gcode file into lasergrbl to edit and simulate before II engrave? If so how? When I open an .nc file it doesn’t let me change anything.

Sorry to trouble you but I’m new and anxious.

Again thanks for all of you and Stuarts help on the custom buttons.

1) My Laser is a m140 diode running @ 1.7A (approx 2W optical power) with G2 lens, driven by X-Drive laser driver.

It was self assembled, cost about 100$ for diode, copper module, lens, driver, heatsink etc.

2) No, i am not so expert to suggest you about good buys. No I don't sell laser.

I think a good quality assembled laser can be purchased from endurance laser, but they are quite expensive.

3) Yes, but cnc is not the best for engraving because of trapezoidal screw. They can be very accurate in positioning, but they are very slow. Belt driven XY table are better for laser.

4) What material was used in the video and can it do aluminum or other metal or ceramic or granite?

Cardboard. No usually laser diode cannot engrave metals. It can engrave paint or satin finish over metals.

5) don't know

6) LaserGRBL is not a gcode editor.
