Can't open DupeGuru on my Mac #1222

I just downloaded DupeGuru for macOS, but when I try to open it, it says “dupeguru” can’t be opened because Apple cannot check it for malicious software. This software needs to be updated. Contact the developer for more information.

I have macOS Big Sure Version 11.7.10

That's a macOS protection. To open dupeguru for the first time, control-click on the app, then choose Open. This time, you should get a similar-looking dialog box, but you'll have the option to "Open Anyway."

Instead of a workaround, you should find out and fix the reason why the message appears in the first place 👀
