Card error after upgrading to eid applet 1.0.5

Some of our clients are having issues authenticating after we upgrade to applet 
1.0.5 from version 1.0.4. As I understood, this version no longer uses the eID 
middleware?

I reverted the version to 1.0.4. Changed nothing on the server side, nor on the 
clients machine and authenticating worked immediately again.
To be clear, I just changed this line "archive: 
'java/eid-applet-package-1.0.4.GA.jar'" in the javascript which creates the 
applet.

We also tried but failed to authenticate on the e-contract where the version is 
1.1.x.

What could be the problem?

Side info: our clients are all local communities (dienst 
burgerzaken/bevolking). So, they often also have other software using eID.

The Dell CCID driver probably has a bug.
Also, update to the latest eID Applet (1.1.0.x series). This one fixes tons of 
issues.

Where can I find that version?
It is not in the Downloads section and according to the source tags, still in 
beta...
