@shyamalschandra What JDK version are you using? Do you have to use Java 6?
Relevant Stack overflow answer: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/56595417/unable-to-compile-maven-project-in-jenkins-while-it-is-working-fine-in-the-eclip
Side question: Is there a particular reason why you are building the project from source? You can specify individual SDK Modules, Polly included, to be used as a dependency: https://docs.aws.amazon.com/sdk-for-java/v1/developer-guide/setup-project-maven.html#configuring-maven
This is confusing answer. Why doesn't the mvn clean install
install smoothly and flawlessly?
Are you using JDK 6 in you environment?
This error message:
[ERROR] error: Source option 6 is no longer supported. Use 7 or later.
[ERROR] error: Target option 6 is no longer supported. Use 7 or later.
indicates that the maven version you are using to build the project does not support Java 6.
I am using the following version of Java:
java 13.0.2 2020-01-14
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 13.0.2+8)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 13.0.2+8, mixed mode, sharing)
@shyamalschandra If you are using Java 13 it is odd that you are seeing this error.
To try to unblock you: you usually don't need to build the whole SDK project from source (meaning to run mvn clean install
) to use the SDK. You mentioned in the title that you want to use Amazon Polly. You can add just the aws-java-sdk-polly
or any other individual SDK modules as a dependency to your project, there's more details on how to do this in the developer guide. Consuming the modules as dependencies is the recommended way to use the SDK in your project.
If using the modules as a dependency is not an option for you, please let me know so I can investigate further the error you are seeing.
@debora-ito: Could you reply with step-by-step instructions? Thanks in advance!
There is a step-by-step instructions in the Developer Guide: Configure the SDK as a Maven dependency - https://docs.aws.amazon.com/sdk-for-java/v1/developer-guide/setup-project-maven.html#configuring-maven
What should I do?
